About this Event

If there are any of you who don’t know the enigmatic, celestial wonderment of Alice Coltrane.. This is your chance to get firmly acquainted with her legacy and music.

Let me try to place it into words.

FOlk sessions are back at kulcha

Alice Night and Cye Wood perform their transporting music to a backdrop of Alice's paintings in the exhibition space at Kulchajam in Byron Bay.

6:30pm - 7:30pm Art Exhibition - paintings by Alice Night in the Kulchajam space.

7:30pm - Cye Wood.

8:30pm - Alice Night.

$30 on the door if not sold out.

Cye Wood is an innovative composition artist who layers live instruments and features violin in his work.

Bringing Kulcha back to the bay

Lovers of Kulcha, stay tuned. Over the coming month we are revitalising our much loved arts and cultural hub on 1 Acacia St. Events are in planning while classes and workshops are ongoing. Jazz and world music evenings, a vinyl appreciation society, and a re-inspired selection of ongoing activities. And if you haven't yet visited the beautiful Kouzina restaurant now operating out of our cafe/courtyard your in for a wonderful treat.  We'll have a more detailed announcements soon. We hope to see your gorgeous faces beaming soon <3 the kulcha crew

Our crowdfunding appeal is live!   Rewards and prizes are available at at our crowdfunding site or tax deductions through the Australian Cultural Fund along with all the details.    Help  us realise some exciting plans for expansion of activities in our hub in the Arts Industry Estate including launch of a regular events program and cafe.

Acacia Street Closure for Peddle and Hawk Market set for the 26th March:

Our Development Approval is approved and we will be closing Acacia St on the 26th of March for our first offical Peddle and Hawk Acacia St Market. 

For our first event we will have an array of kids activities, workshops, food and creative deliciousness! 

You can sign up for a market stall through our peddle and hawk webpage.

:Exhibit: 52: continuous living exhibit of sonic exploration, unique instruments, threshold films, loops and liminality

Beginning on Friday 10th of July at 7pm until Sunday July 12th 11pm :EXHIBIT: 52: is a cutting edge exploration of live art merging sound installations, live performance and an exhibition of unique hand made wooden machines into a continuous 52 hour performance. 

Hosted by the liminal caravan and featuring their 'temporal autonomous zone' bus bringing together the region's experimental sound and art practioners for diverse curation of creation.

A Conversation with Tamara Dean, Kulchajam artist in residence

We will be hosting an intimate evening conversation with photographer Tamara Dean, Kulchajam's  artist in residence this coming Tuesday 23rd of June at 6.30pm

Tamara Dean, a highly accomplished and awarded Australian photographic and installation artist, will be undertaking an artist in residence at Kulchajam from the 22nd June - 6th of July to develop new works and provide mentoring opportunities to young regional women photographers.

Community collaborations honoured by a visit from the Minister for Disability Services

The Minister for Aging and Minister for Disability Services, Mr John Ajaka together with Nationals Ballina candidate Kris Beavis toured the facilities  of Kulchajam' on Tuesday 10th March in celebration of the provision of funding from the State 'Community Building Partnership' Infrastructure grant. The funding enables disability access toilets and other infrastructure improvements to Kulchajam's arts and cultural hub based in Byron Bay's arts and industry estate.
