| The Plant Freedom Alliance♥ The Plant Freedom Alliance is a grassroots network dedicated to right of human beings to have knowledge of and access to all the plants of this earth. ♥ The plants of this earth have been used by human kind for their medicine, cultural enjoyment, fibre and housing throughout time. ♥ Therefore the right to grow, use and trade whichever plants we choose is a fundamental human right. ♥ We focus on medicinal plants,as these are the plants that currently face the greatest restrictions in most countries,as they have the potential to threaten the profits made by pharmaceutical companies! ♥ Unfortunately, the laws passed about plants in Australia are mainly created with the profits of the huge pharmaceutical companies in mind, and not the health and wellbeing of the people. ♥ Therefore,we oppose the growing domination of the pharmaceutical industry over health care, scientific research, public education and government policy-making. ♥ We believe that the public should have the right to choose the natural plant medicines over the chemical copies (pharmaceuticals) if they wish, without breaking the law!! | In 2009 Kulchajam and the Plant Freedom Alliance created the PLANT KULCHA alternative bar at Island Vibe Festival and then again in 2010 at the Rainbow Serpent Festival, providing all natural alcohol free drinks including coconuts, herbal drinks and natural remedies to party goers In 2007-8 Kulchajam undertook a study and knowledge sharing project supported by the Asia Pacific unit of the Australian Conservation Foundation in collaboration with Papua New Guinean organisation, the Sea Turtle Restoration Project and communities along the coast of Madang Province,PNG. Various mechanisms for protecting, preserving and passing on traditional knowledge related to local plants and animals were explored, and experience from Indigenous Australian projects shared with interested villagers. |
